KAIAPOI.
At the Kaiapoi District High School yestordav. Mr H. Oram, who is leaving to take up a position in tho Timaru High Scf.ool, -wa« presented by thn scholars in his class with a leather writing-ease, suitably inscribed, and by tho teaching staff with a suit-case. At a gathering ot teachers in the Technical school, Mr Oram, who is an old boy, prosented the director with an historical picture, handsomely framed, to be hung in tbe building. Mr Oram was tho recipient of other presentations during the week. Tho Senior Cadets, of which he was captain, presented him with an enlarged photograph of th© corps, also with an inkstand and greenstone paper weights, while the scholars of the English Sunday school presented him with a gold albert in appreciation of his services as superintendent. Mr Oram leaves for Timaru to-day.
The annual social of the Fire Brigade was held in tho Drill Hall last night, ■which was -prettily decorated for the occasion. There was a large attendance, including representatives of other brigades. Dancing and progressive euchre were indulged in.
