KINDERGARTEN CONFERENCE

PROPOSED EXTENSION OF WORK

DUN'EDEN, ,May 29. A conference of those interested in kindergarten work was held this afternoon. Amongst those present were Messrs G. M. Thompson, M.P., G. Hogben (Inspector-General of Schools), Braik (Chief Inspector of Schools at Wanganui), and C. ft. Richardson (Chief Inspector for Otago). The conference discussed the inter-relation of the Kindergarten Association with tho training colleges, and passed resolutions regarding tho extension of tho probationer system to kindergarten schools, also the question of reciprocity between the kindergartens and training colleges for the mutual benefit of the students.

The conference also discussed the question of the extension of the kindergarten system into the-primary schob' system.

Other matters brought un wero the extension of the age at which a child might remain at a kindergarten, and the question of restoration of qual.ned educational institutions. Resolutions dealing with these matters were adopted, and will be forwarded to the Minister of Education.
