At tho monthly meeting of'tho Halswell County Council" there were pre-' sent—Messrs Eaglesome (chairman), Morten, W. Gilmour, Fenner, : and J: Gilmour. Tho Public Works Department forwarded application forms for grants for public works. The clerk was instructed to reply. The Hospital Board stated • that the amount required from the Council for the current year was £484 6s lid. Received. Mr Carpenter drew attention to the state of the cottage rented by him from the Council. Referred to Mr Forbes. The Christchurch Domain Board 6tated that the amount due hv the Council for the current year was £29:105. Received. The Waimairi County Council wrote in reference to the levy made by the Domain Board. It was decided to suggest the advisability of calling a meeting of suburban local bodies with a view to ■ getting the Act altered during the coming session of Parliament. The clerk reported that he and Mr W. Gilmour had arranged for re- • pairs to Leathem's bridge at .the price agreed upon. Approved. ..'.
