CONTEMPT OF COURT.

WANGANUI, May 29
At tho Supreme Court to-day a young man named Austin Henry Bruen stood his trial for tho second time on three charges of indecently interfering with a girl under sixteen years of age. The jury, returned, a . verdict of not guilty on all counts. Mr Justice ilkiwards, addressing Bruen, said: —"The jury has disbelieved your own statements made on oath. I recommend you to. be more careful, for you may hat find that another jury will disbelieve you." The prisoner and th© jury were then discharged.
Prisoner, addressing the jury,. said: —''Gentlemen, I thank you." Mr Justice Edwards: Prisoner at the hat, you are fined £5 for contempt of Court.
Prisoner's oounsel pleaded for remission of the fine, but his Honour ordered payment forthwith, and promised to hA«r counsel next morning.
