OPUNAKE. May 2<J. Speaking at tho Opunake railway celebration, the Hon. W. Carncross, M.L.C., asked those present to look at. him. as he expected that "before long Legislative Councillors would bo as extinct as the dodo."
He paid a compliment to tho Hon. W. Fraser, and said that though opposed in politics, lie had always recognired him as one of the iow men who understood finance, and that always perfectly.
