PREPARATIONS FOB RECEIVING - THE VISITORS.

Laby, of Victoria CoUege, informed a reporter this even- - ing that arrangements are well for-;* ward for t\e big science congress which■is to be held in Wellington and CftrisH. church in September. ■ It is expected that about 100 scientists, many. : .<& whose names are world-famous, wdl/ visit the Dominion. ~ • A list of probable visitors, was published in "The Press" of Saturday last. Tho following sectional secretaries have accepted appointment: — _ - ' Section 1-Prof. W. Pn.D. (Canterbury College), and Professor X., G. Scott, M.I.C.E. (Canterbury Col-v lege), assistant secretary, Mr C. fc-: Aa*ams, M.Sc., F.R.A.S fWeUington). *■ Section 2—£rof. Chilton, D.Sc.;as-; dstanfc secretary, Dr. Alan Thomson. ;, Section 3—Mr G. Hogbon (plication and Geography), Prof> Segar (Economics), and Mr W, Dowme Stewart, L.L:B (Eoonomics)., _ The general secretary of the local committee is Professor T. H. Laby, and the treasurer is Professor Picken. Various residents have already otfared to entertain some of the visiting scientists. . . ■' An eminent educationalist. Professor Finlay, has written to the committee stating that he regrets he will not he able to attend the sectional lectnxe& in New Zealand in September. It has been arranged, however, that Professor Finlay, through'the courtesy of the Minister of Education, shall deliver lectures orf education, in Auckland and' in Wellington at tho end of July. '
