(special to tress.") TIMARU, May 29. As is usual at this time of tho year, business on the local grain market is somewhat quiet. A fair number of samples of wheat have been on offer during the week, but millers have filled their immediate requirements and aro not keen buyers, while speculators aro a littlo shy on account of tho prices that are being asked. Prime Velvet is quoted at 4s to 4s Id. Rod Chaff at 3s lid to 3s and good Tuscan at 3s lOd to 3s 10i<l, delivered Timaru. Only a few sales havo been recorded during tho week Fowl wheat is selling at up to 3s lid f.o.b.' Tho oat market is very dull, and it : s impossible to give reliable quotations. Oatsheaf Chaff is not much in demand, aii to-day's quotation is £2 5s on trucks, country stations. Tho potato market is in a rather curious state. Thero aro plenty of potatoes offering at present, and this has brought down tho .. price to £3 ss, or £3 10s on trucks, at country stations, sacks extra.
