WELLINGTON', May 27,

Mr Charles Peterson, of tho James McKenzio Proprietary. Melbourne, was on a holiday visit to Now Zealand, and was travelling in company with Mr Stuart Murray, of Messrs Murray and Co. Ho was on a visit to Wellington, and had been staying at tho Wellington Club, where be made many friends.

3ir Jolxn -Swinson is well-known hero as an advertising manager. He is manager of tho Wellington branch of Messrs Chandler and Co., and is a married man, about 30 years of age, and lives at the Hutt. Prior to his arrival in New Zealand ho had travelled extensively. Ho left Wellington yesterday on a business trip to the head office of hi* company. Private advices received this afternoon indif»*« that iur Swinson is making satisfactory , pro-, grcss. . Mr Grimstone was in the Nativo Land Department hero until recently, when ho was appointed Registrar to a 31aori Land Board in tho North. He wae at ono time secretary to Judge Palmer, of tho Nativo Land Court. He was returnins from a brief visit to Wellington, of which city ho was "the chaitpion billiard playpj. hie. widow and fivo children are living at Scatoun, a ttellincton'suburb.

Mr H. A. Fox is .managing, director of the Office Appliances Uompany here. He is a man of middle age, married, and with, ono son. Ho is well known here as an amateur gardener, especially as a grower of carnations and roses. Mr G. B. Howard, accountant at the Auckland branch of tho National Mutual Assurance Company, is a young, man, unmarried, and had been i~ '"Ellington on a holiday. Ho left yesterday in company with Mr Stevens.

Mr H. G. Mackay is inspector for the Commercial Bank of Aiistralasia. lie was formerly in tho eamo bank in Melbourne, and has iuet spent six weeks in Wellington relieving tho manager here while- the latter was away' on leave. He is about 50 years of age.
