There was keen public interest lit tho.annual debate on church union in the General Assemblies of the Churcc oE Scotland and the United Free Church, in Edinburgh.
In both Houses determined minorities revealed themselves, but after animated discussion the official leaders wer© supported in their policy of conciliation and rapprochement by overwhelming- ma jorities.
Criticism took the form of an attempt to multiply doctrinal affirmations in the constitution. ' ,
