A special meeting of the Upper Orar' River Board was held in Tomuka yes terday afternoon. Present: Messrs TV G. Aspraall (chairmaa), W. Mason. W F. Evans, P. Coira. D. Grant, A. Frew K. McKenzio, and. the clerk (J. TV Joynt). Mr F. J. Rollestbn, the Board's solicitor, was in attendance and explained the provisions of th» Land Drainage Amendment Act, 1913 whereby trees an<" <i+li_ r srrowth was in •-WJ in the. definition of tho won v
''obstructions'' in connection wit!river beds. After some discussion, 'theBoard resolved, on the motion of thf chairman, seconded by Mr Evans '•That as the obstructions of the Waih ! river are, in the opinion of the Board likoly to cause damage to property h tho district, a maetinc of the Beard V called for Friday;'l2th June,'at 2.3f\ p.m., for the jnj'rncsa of making an nrdor under section 7 of tho Lam 1 Brainago Amendment Act, 1918, aftainef owners or ocenoiors of land on the banks of "tho TY'aihi river lying betwee* Peckham's crossing and the boundary road' - between Tonuika>and Geraldinp Road Districts, ordering them to comply with the provisions of tho Act in regarrto the removal of obstructions in thf river bed. and that the clerk bo nu thorised to sign notices notifying th' various owners or occupiers of the in tcntion to make such aa order.''
