A letter was received from tho Itangiora High School Board, stating that Sir C. 17 Jennings, representative of the> Canterbury College Board of Governors on the Board, having been elected Mayor of Rangiora, and thus becoming ex officio a member of the Board, his seat became ' vacant. It was recommended that Mr James Stevenson, of Flaxton, be appointed to fill fthe vacancy. The recommendation was adopted. The Director of the School of Art (Mr Herdman Smith) wrote recommending that a new room be built above the present still life room in the School of Art, to be used for the purpose of a lecture room. The Chairman said that the members of the Advisory Committee had been over the building with Mr Herdman Smith, and made a cursory inspection. He thought that the extension was needed. Mr Montgomery said that there had been a great increase of students, and there was no suitable room for the purposes of a lecture room. At present, lectures had to be held in the architecture room. The idea was to raise the present '"building another storey, and so make ample room for lecturing .purposes, as well as for the architectural classes.
The matter was referred to the Museum and Library Committee to report. The plans of the proposed College Library building and arcades adjoining were submitted to the Board for consideration.
After a brief discussion the sub-com-mittee were aut&orised to call for ten-
ders for the erection of.the buildings; provided they were satisfied with the": plans.
