BOARD OF GOVERNORS.
RETIRING MEMBERS RE-ELECTED. Nominations closed at noon yesterday for candidates to fill five vacancies on tho Board of Governors of Canterbury College, caused by the retirement of that number of members. The retiring members were re-nominated in each case without opposition, and an election will, therefore, be unnecessary. The members who have been returned are as follow: —
Representing tho graduates, Messrs William Brock, M.A., and George Thorngate Weston, 8.A., LL.B.
Representing the teachers of Canterbury, Mr J. C. Adams, B.A. Representing the School Committees of Canterbury, Mr C. H. Opie. Representing Canterbury members of Parliament, Mr G. J. Smith. Bishop Julius, nominated by the Governor, is also retiring, but, so far, no notification has been received from his Excellency regarding the vacancy. It is understood that Mr J. Caughley was to have been nominated by a section of the teachers* in opposition to Mr J. C. Adams, but that he withheld his consent.
