WAIHAO DOWNS.
Tho employees of the Gore and Balfour branches of the firm of Messrs Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., met in the Gore office on Friday evening says the "Mataura Ensign r, ) for the purpose of exnressing their esteem and goodwill to Mr Bishop Turnbull, who is severing his connexion with tho firm in order to take up a responsible position at Waihao Downs under the Canterbury Farmers' Co-operative Association, Ltd Mr P. C. Gray (local manager) expressed the feelings of the staff of both branches. He stated they were sorry t»> lose one of their number who was st> highly esteemed for his courtesy and general business qualities. While regretting Mr Turnbull's departure, they all wished him a happy and successful career at Waihao Downs. Personally ho (the speaker) had always had a very high opinion of Mr Turnbull as a business man, and he woald bo delighted to hear of his future success. He asked Mr Turnbuli's acceptance on behalf of the staffs of a gold watch, suitably inscribed, as a token of esteem.
