TAI TAPU.
Tho annual meeting of residents of the Tai Tapu Hall District was held on Saturday. There was a fair attendance, and Mr R. Macartney was voted to the chair. The treasurer's report for the year showed receipts £3S 2s 7d, 10s 4d, leaving a debit balance of 7s 9d. The balance over working expenses was £3 8a Bd. Discussion ensued upon the matter of special rates of insurance being charged to cover additional risks-incurred in connexion with picture shows. Messrs Forbes and McKenzie wero deputed to see into insurance matters and arrange for any additional risks. It was decided to approach the Halswell County Council and endeavour to secure a remission of rates upon the hall property. A grant of £50 had been made by the Council in aid of the Halswoll Hall, and it seemed only reasonable that some help should be given by the Council to the Tai Tapu Hall. A remission of rates would bo a help in that direction, and Mr Gilmour offered to bring the matter up at the next Council meeting. On the motion of tho chairman, seconded by Mr Forbes, the report and bal-ance-sheet were adopted. A vote of thanks was accorded to tho outgoing committee, which woe-re-elected, with Mx Macartney as chairman, Mr Me T Kenzie as treasurer, and Mr Pcnlingion as secretary.
