At the opening of the first spell Sydenham sot up a hot attack, but good forward work by Smyth and McQuihn, and a long punt by Smith took play to the other ond,.of the field, vvhero Watson saved by-punting into touch. Tho Marists' backs essayed several i passing rushes, hub the defensive work of Doell and Watson was again right up to standard.'] Passing between Watson aud Davies saw the last-named well tackled by fKvyer when looking dangerous. Sydenham kept up tho attack", and a series of scrums and scrambles ensued on tho Greens' line, and from a pass from .he scrum, several forwards fob on'tho ball, the referee awarding a try to Booth. Doell failed in his attempt at goal. Sydenham 3, Marists 0. Shortly afterwards the spell ended. Maiists' appeared to go to pieces at the beginning of tho second "Tnell, and the Sydenham forwards, headed by Kennedy, kept the Greens strictly on ' the defensive. Passing between the Cardinal backs gave Watson an opening, and ho scored a good try, Doell kicking a beautiful goal. Sydenham 8, Marists nil. The Greens now .livened up, and the forwards gave the.-Sydenham backs a ■ warm time. Amodeo, Dwycr, and Mullins were associated' in a passing rush, and the last-named'put in aTong kick, which was well followed by Dwyer and Smith. Tho Svdenham "full-back fumbled badly, and G.
