SPORTS PROTECTION LEAGUE'S ADVICE TO MEMBERS.

Although the main object of tho New Zealand Sports Protection Leaguo i~- to eeo that tbo domain of sport is not unduly encroached upon, its activities do not lie wholly in that direction, and it keeps a watchful eye on things political, as will bo seen by tho following extract from its annual roport, which has just been published:—"During the enftuing year tho genera! election is to take play's;, and it is ono of tho functions of the hraneh to watch the trend of events and to report to tho Board of Control if it should be deemed to bo necessary to take an active part in connexion with any of tho co-itfiM*- within tho city or .suburbs. For tho guidance oi mom'-cn:, it might be mentioned that the political policy ah laid down up to the prewnit provides that the electorates should bo classified a* follows;—(a) Those in which both candidates are favourable to tbo League's policy, and in which, consequently, th- 4 League must bo absolutely impartial, (b) T'bos-o in which tho candidates have distinctly diverse views as to our policy and in which. th-*refore, the League would exercise its whole influence in favour of its supporter -igainst its opponent. It will probably he nr-ce-sary to submit questions to candidate* to ascertain thoir viowg on subjects affecting the League, and, in order that there nuiv be f-omp uniformity of action throughout the Dominion, the Board of Control will draft ni'd submit for the. consideration of the branch ouestionfi which may be suitable for the purpose."
