BENEFIT FOOTBALL MATCH.
At a meeting of tho Management Committee of the Christchurch Football Loaguo, held on Saturday night, on tho motion of Dr. Thacker it was unanimously resolved to support tho Open-air Homes for Children Fund. Tho secretary was instructed to writ.o to tho Mayor informing him that tho League would givo a benefit match in aid of tho fund.
Tho secretary of the Social Democratic Party has forwarded the following communication to Dr. Blackmoro :■—- "Tho District Council of tho Social Democratic Party at its last mooting instructed mo to convey to you it© appreciation of tho manner in which you had attacked tho question of consumption and kindred ills. The Social Democratic Party heartily agree with you that the surest way to check consumption is to safeguard tlie children. One of tho foremost municipal planks of the Social Democratic Pa'riy's platform is a pure milk supply, and they hope to havo your co-operation in bringing about this much-needed reform. Any man whoso aim it is to relieve suffering and distress, and to benefit the human race, can always depend upon tho hearty sympathy and co-operation of the Social" Democrat'o Party,"
The Mayor (Mr H. Holland) desires to acknowledge receipt of the following subscriptions to tho fund:—-"M.E.C." £1 Is, "Lndv" 2s 6d, T. F. Hall £1 Is, H. H. Clifford £1 Is.
