Results:— Hazlett beat Apperley, 6 up and 5 to play. MacFarlaoo beat Evans, 4 up and 3 to play. Blackwell beat Hilton, 2 up and 1 to play. Graham beat H. Gillies" (New Zealand), 2 up and 1 to play. Ellik beat Tubbs, 2 up. Mulholland beat Bead at the twentieth hole.. ■ - • • . The Hon. Michael Scott beat Mellin, 1. up. E. Smith beat Lockhart at the nineteenthhole. - Jenkins beat Hambro, 7 up and 6 to pley. Hilton frequently outdrove' Blackwell, but throughout was lamentably short with hie putts. Blackwell, though , erratic, alwaye managed to hole hie putts well. MacFarlfl.no played golf such ac hae not hitherto been seen at Sandwich. He reached the lorn in thirty, where Chick Evans, the American College champion, was five down.' MacFarlane, at the fifth, secured the hole with a ten yards putt, holed et the eizth from tho edge of the green, and at the seventh from a distance of thirty yards. He holed hia ninth from a distance of four yards, breaking . all known records. Coming home, MacFarlane was not brilliant. He won the twelfth, but lost the next three, and won the sixteenth, where Evans wae twice bunkered. Ouimet admits that Tubbe outplayed him. He played superior golf, and was also quick to take advantage' of the American's mistakes. FIFTH ROUND. Phillips (Newport) beat iJlackwell at the nineteenth hole. E. Smith (Epyal Saint George) beat MacFarlane, 2 up.' Graham (Royal Liverpool) beet Ellis at the nineteenth hole.
