FIRES.

(PHESS ASSOCIATION- TELEGRAM.) LEVIN, May 21. A fire this morning at Shannon destroyed Merwood's refreshment rooms, Richardson's butchery, Jenkins's saddlery, and Hook's billiard-room. Tho Bank of New Zealand building was saved by the efforts of a bucket brigade. Merwood's property was not insured, and the loss is estimated at £120. Hook's property was insured for £125. Jenkins bad no insurance, and his loss is estimated at £250. Richardson's property was insured for £100. and his loss is small. The insurance on tho buildings totalled £300. Tho owner is Mrs Curran.
