MISSING GERMAN BARQUE.
SEESTERN POSTED AT LLOYD'S. * A German sailing vessel of fairly large tonnage, which has been lost while making a passage across the South Pacific, was on April Bth posted at Lloyd's as missing. The vessel was the Seestern, which has disappeared while bound from Newcastle (N.S.W.) to Caleta Buena, with a cargo of coal. She ia reported to have put-to sea from the Australian coal port on October 26th la«t, and. had all gone well with her, she should havo arrived at her destination some six weeks or so' later. Nothing whatever has been heard of her from tho day sho loft the Australian coast
The Seestorn appears to have been first dealt with as an .overdue ship about January 20th, when she was some three months out, and 40-45 guinea* was then paid on her. By the end of January the rate stood at about 80 guineas, and a fortnight or to later sUo was considered to be hopelessly overdue, and was withdrawn from the market. A steel barque of 1504 gross and 1423 net tons tho Soeatern sailed under the command of a shipmaster named R. Hauth, who, according to Lloyd's Register, was only appointed as master of her last year. The barque, which was launched by Messrs Blohm and Voss at Hamburg in November, 1832, held tho 100 Al classification in Lloyd's Register. She was one of the fleet of vessels owned by Aug. Bolten (VVm. Miller's successor), of Hamburg, at which port she was registered. It may be no>ed that tho last previous instance of a vessel being posted as missing while bound from Newcastle (NSW) to the West Coast .was in connexion
