BOROUGH COUNCILS.
SPKEYDON. A meeting of the Spreydou Borough Council was held last evening. Present —Tho Mayor (Mr G. R. Waiting), and Councillors Winsor. Cfark, Hayes, Manhire, Rudd, Sykes, - Hancock, and Woods.
A deputation from the Spreydon Burgesses' Association asked the Council to provide new street lamps within the borough in placo of the defective ones now in use.
The Mayor stated thai the obsolete ones had been called in, and new ones would be erected iv their gtead, on the advice of the- Finance Committee. Tho deputation further urged relief to- T>. Mcanaghan, who is an old ratepayer, and now in war circumstances.
I'he Mayor replied that this matter yas now uihW cct.sidentioi, and any ■mmqdiate rol'.ef necessary would be given.
