STOKE SHEEP; • The yarding.of store sheep showed n further d&ereuse.. but. was a fairly goo-.l one, considering the.season.of tho year. A considerable proportion of tho yarding consisted of wethers, principally of a better class than at recent eales, and one or two "pens of merinos were inciudod. The bulk of the remainder were lambs, also of a good class,-the balance being made up of eves, ranging from four, sis. and eight-tooth to aged sorts. The tone of tue" market throughout showed an improvement, compareu with recent sa.as. This wai, most noticeable in the case of lambs, and tor the bei.t masses of-ewes. FAT SHEEP. There was a large entry of fat sheep, eleven races being filled, as against ten last week. There was an improvement w tut average quaut.v, ue«c Doing a number of well finished lines of wethers and ewes offered. Tiie market opened well, there being good- competition both on the part of exporters and butchers. Prices for both wethers and ewes showed a still further improvement, and the large yarding met with, good clearance. Tat cattle were represented by, a yardinoc totalling 27S head, compared with 387 at the , previous sale, 557 on Slay 6th, 307 on April 29th, 345 m April-o22nd, and r 271 on April :; 15th. VEALERS. . Fat calves were penned in about the castomary numbers, and, -is usual, represented all classes, ranging from small and immature animals to well grown sorts, some of which were too old to come within the term "vealer. The demand was unchanged compared with recent sales, prices ranging from 8s to £4. according to age, condition, and quality. STORE CATTLE.
Only a small number of store cattle -were penned, principally of a very poor class, and the demand for all descriptions was weak, few buyers being present- '.Prices were:— Fifteen to cightoen-months sorts, £2 15s.
Two-year steers, £3 Os to £4. Two-year beiiers, £3 5s to £3 17s 6d. Three-year steors. £5 17s 6d. Cows, £1 to £5 ios. DAIRY COWS. Dairy . cows. were by a. fairly large entry, some of which were particularly good. As usual at this time of the year, there was 'free competition, and all good cows made full prires, ranging from £3 10s to £5 for ordinary sorts, extra good animals making up to £13 10s. PI&S. Fat pigs were in lull supply, and in point of quality the yarding was of z better c\a.-s than at several re-cent sales. The demand for choppers and baconexs was unchanged, bat 'porkors were slightly easior. Quotations: — Ordinary ohoppers, £3 lOs to £o iOs. Ordinary baconexs, 48s to 555. Heavy baconers, 57s (3d to 655. Extra heavy baconers to 6Ss. Price per lb. od to 5Jd. Ordinary porkers, 3Ss to i2s. Heavy porkers. 44s to 475. Price per lb, 6d. Stores were veil represented, but the demand "was far from brisk, and prices
for all descriptions were easier. Quotations: — Best stores, 30s to 38s. Medium stores, 22s to 235. Small stores. ISs to 21s. Weaners, Ss 6d to 14s. Sows in pig to £'4 os.
