THE TOLLS EXEMPTION.
A NEW MOVE
(Received May 19th, 11.35 p.m.) WASHINGTON, May 18. A determined move is pendin" ia the Senate to substitute for the repeal of tlje Exemption Bill, a measure providing for submission to arbitration of the whole question.
Senator Sutherland is leading the coalition favouring arbitration. Senator Morris introduced the necessary resolution.
Senators Root and Lodge favour the proposal, bub as a two-thirds vote is required to carry the Arbitration Bill, Senator Sutherland's proposal is unlikely to bo carried.
