DAIRY INDUSTRY.
THE COMING OF SIBERIA
(raOM OCT. OWN CORRESPONDENT.)
LONDON, April f>
The High Commissioner attended this week's , meeting of tho Advisory Committee of tho Board of Trado on Commercial Intelligence, when the president of the Board of Trade (Mr Johu Burns. M.1.) was present at the beginning of the proceedings and briefly addressed the committee. .
Among the matters considered wore the arrangements in connexion with tho Special Commercial Commission to Siberia, to be undertaken forthwith by Mr H. Cooke, H.M. Commercial Attache for Russia; a Special Commercial Mission to China; proposals for the reclassification of goods for the purposes of the Trade Marks Act, and possible action for the removal of difficulties caused to traders by differences in the legal procedure of tho United Kingdom and certain other European countries.
In connexion with tho mission to Siberia, Mr Mackenzie submitted a proposal which was accepted by the Board, that Mr Cooke should make special enquiry- into the dairy industry of that country, the possibilities of its development, and the extent to which that development might go. The report, when received, Mr Mackenzie said, would have a great bearing New Zealand's future, inasmuch as Siberia had "been looming somewhat large as a competitor with New Zealand and Australia in the London market.
