Amongst the arrivals at Wanganui on Saturday were Bertrada,- Gold ISTze, Karimoi, Alorihiko, and John Willie. John Willie has again changed hands, liaving been purchased since the Egmont Meeting by a Wanganui sportsman.
W. McDonald has an addition to his team, in a chestnut colt by Nautiform —Hilarity. Ho is a well grown youngster, and on looks should be useful.
Salathiel (Levi) and Corrie (McSeveney) were sent out for a round over the, big hurdles yesterday morning. Corrio jumped very carefully, while Salathiel was inclined to be a bit svild.
. Our Wellington correspondent telegraphs that the Minister of Internal Affairs lias refused the Otahuhu Trotting Club a permit for the June Meeting, which it was proposed to hold without the assistance of the totalisator. -
R. J. Mason will .leave for Sydney about Juno HtTt. Mr G. D. Greenwood's team for the Australian Spring campaign will include Cherubini, Bimoter, by Maltster . from Comedy, Camulus, Valhalla, Memo by Achilles from Rumour, and possibly one other two-year-old. A full brother to Brave Heart, by Collarit fronr Flacon.- owned by .Mr A. J. Redmond, of Forbns, recently sustained a transverse fracture of one of his legs. He was treated by a veterinary surgeon, and the injured limb*, was put in a sling for six weeks. The leg is now all right, and the colt is able to put his foot to the ground (says tho Sydney "Referee"). At the Juarez race »track, March llth, a horse named Christophine, owned by S. Veiller, ran a mile in Imin 36 4-sth sec, this being announced in America as a new world's record for i circular track. • The former record was lmin 37sec, by Bonnio Chance, a live-year-old. Christophine is a thret* year-old daughter of Plaudit, the noted sire, and is entered in all the big stakes throughout Kentucky this season. The death is reported from Messrs Bailey Bros.' Terranallum Station, in the 'Western District of Victoria, '.f the blood stallion Coil, who was in his 20th year. Coil was by Abercorn from Copra, and, therefore, a full brother to Cocos. Aa a two-year-old ho won the Oakleigh Plate and the V.R .C. Sires' Produce Stakes, and subsequently carried a 101b penalty to victory in the A..T.C. Chamnapno Stakes of 1896; and at the V.R.C. Autumn Meeting of the following year ho _ ran third to Carlton and Wait-a-Bit "n the Newmarket Handicap, and won the E«wendon Stakes and Australian Cup, and wound up the Meetins by filling third place to Newhaven Officer in tho Champion Stakes.
