WHARENUI SCHOOL BAZAAR
TO THE EDITOR Or "THE TBESS."
Sir, —As your valuable journal dominates the circulation in the district concerned, I would like you to give publicity to tho unsatisfactory manner m which the late Wharenui school bazaar has been disposed of. It will be rememberd ' that the Education Board promised a subsidy for improvements to the "Wharenui school grounds provided the residents raised £100 of the amount required, and tho offer was enthusiastically gripped by householders and friends of the school, and, after many weeks of preparation, the final bid for tho amount was made per medium of a bazaar. The function turned out very successful, and a rough estimate made by the stallholders themselves by totalling un their various returns showed that the £100, and even more, had been gathered in. Beyond this, however, nothing else is known. The committee have made no attempt whatever at calling a winding-up meeting, and since the bazaar was held—two months agol—a new school committee has been elected. My idea of writing this, Sir, is to point out the unbusinesslike methods of the committee, which for one thing reflect a most lamentable spirit in forgetting all about the little band of enthusiasts who were the means of gaining the Government's grant.— Yours, etc., : ANNOYED.
