WELL-KNOWN TRAINER INJURED.
Late on Saturday night, Mr Charles Kerr, the well-known trainer of trotting horses, who trained Admiral Wood, ownod by his brother, which won tho New Brighton Derby, met with a serious accident. Mr Kerr left Claridge's Stables about 10.30 p.m. on Saturday, driving a trotting sulky, and somo timo later, wliilo travelling at a fairly smart piaco along Regent 6treot, Woolston, collided with a tramway polo, nearly opposito tho Oddfellows' Hall. A passer-by who hoard the crash found Mr Kerr lying unconscious on the road, tho horso having bolted. Constablo _. Wootton was called by the caretaker of the hall, and took the injured man to the Hospital, where ho was admitted about midnight. It was found that he was suffering from severe concussion of the brain. He regained consciousness yesterday, and was reported to bo doing fairly well late last night.
S. Trewin, a man employed on the Ashley Gorge-Snowdale road, met with an accident which will incapacitate him for some time. He was employed cutting somo saplings for stakes, when ho slipped, and tho axo cut the upper part of his foot seriously. Fortunately one of his companions had a knowledge of first-aid, and rendered such assistance as was possible. He was carried on a stretcher on to tbo road, where he was met by a trap that had been secured from East Oxford, and brought to the township, whero bo was attended to by a doctor.
