A number of influential members of Parliament are implicated in charges of corruption made by a certain paper. It is stated that further revelations would gravely weaken Sir Wilfrid Laurier's party. '..-- Following tho allegations publishedin the Montreal "Daily Mail," accusing three members of the Legislature oF ■ "graft" in connexion with a concession, for the formation of tbe Montreal Fairs' Association, the editors were summoned to th. Bar of the House, and gave the names of the men they accused, who thereupon resigned their seats. * Tho proofs were gained by Detective Buttmger, who secured election aa a director of the Fairs' Association, in order to get evidence against the ac-" cused. Detectivo Buttinger has since been appointed Chief of the Ne,\v York Police- ■ ■■■ ' The Legislature ordered an investigation. It is understood that 1 the members who resigned intend to take legal aci tion to clear themselves.
