ANNIVERSARY DAY AT AUCKLAND.
(PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGBAMB.) AUCKLAND, January 29. - Anniversary Day was. observed as a close holiday, and as the weather, was fine, great crowds attended the Takapuna races, the Exhibition, annual regatta, and the numerous pleasure resorts of the harbour and Gulf. Tho regatta was divided into four sections —yachts, small trading vessels, motor launches, and men-of-war boats —and there were numerous contestants and keen competition in practically every class. Although a very strong northeasterly wind made the harbour conditions unpleasant for small craft, the regatta passed off'without mishap and with entire success.
