COAL PORTERS' STRIKE.

The coal firms deny that they have conceded the strikers' demands. - Mr Lockett, chairman of the Society, states that four-fifths of the coalmen are returning to work on the old terms. The men's demands would have involved an increase of 12i per cent, in working expenses, and brought the trade to the verge of bankruptcy. (Received January 30th, 0.5 a.m.) LONDON, January 29. The Joint Committee of the Coal Porters' and Vehicle Workers' Unions decided to terminate the strike.
