VICTORIA LEAGUE.

:—• . The members of the Victoria League and a number of friends assembled at tho Merivale Schoolroom last night to hear Miss Ericsson lecture on the Studlev Horticultural College and the work done in connexion with it. With the help of a number of lantern slides, the lecturer gave a most interesting account of the kind of work done at this College. Here women are allowed a three years' course of instruction in plant growing either for private use or for market purposes. This College, which has been established some years now, was made possible by the Countess of Warwick, who is greatly interested in the welfare of women and in tho advancement of women's interests. In this College no* only gardening is taught, but also general agriculture, including butter and cheese making, carpentering, bee-keeping and allied subjects. Miss Ericsson was herself a pupil, and, judging by her remarks, showed that hor time there had not been mis-spent. The lecture was capitally delivered, and created an increased interest in this wholesome pastime of life's works.
