BOY SCOUTS.
THE MELBOURNE GATHERING. (SPECIAL TO "THE FRESS.") GISBORNE, January 29. In an interesting letter received locally from Scoutmaster EUery, who is at present representing the Boy Scouts of this district at the b, B Scout gathering in Melbourne, he .states that Sβ sixteen boys and two scoutmasters from New Zealand are being given a right royal time in Melbourne. They Are being afforded every opportunity to £1 th" city thoroughly. Representative Scouts from every part of Australia are present, and the gathering is a very large one. Tho Now Zealand boys at the Scout sports succeeded in j obtaining second place in the. nightalarm work, being only one point be- . hind the winners. They easily beat all j opposition in the ambulance work, the j judge (a St. John Ambulance man) i remarking that the showing of the j New Zealand boys was the best he had j ever seen, and that they won by over 30 marks.
