BURNSIDE MARKET.
(PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) DUNEDIN, January 28. There was a largo yarding of fat cattle at Burnsido to-day, 220 being penned. There were a few pens of prime bullocks, but the bulk of the entry consisted of medium quality cows and heifers. Prime cattle sold well throughout, but medium arid inferior lines showed a drop of 10s to 15s per head. Best bullocks £11 10s to £12 15s, extra good to £16, good £9 15s to £11, light £8 10s to £9 10s, best cows and heifers £9 10s to £10 10s, extra good to £11 5s .medium to good £7 10s to £8 10s, light £5 10s to £6 15s. Fat Sheep—3 800 were penned, this number being largely in excess of requirements. Ewes were in over supply. Prices showed a drop of Is to Is 6d for wethers, and fully 2s for ev:es. Graziers were operating freely, otherwise the decline would have been greater. A large number were turned out unsold. Best wethers 23s 6d to 2-ls 6d, extra to 275, medium to good 21e Cd to 235, light 18s 6d to 20s. best ewes 20s 6d to 22s 6d, extra to 28s, medium to good 18s 6d to 19s 6d. light 14s 6d to 17s. Fat Lambs —500 were penned, mostly good quality. Competition was keen, and prices were firm at last week's rates. Best 18s to 19s 6d, extra to 21s 3d. good 16s 6d to 17s 6d. Pigs—72 fat pigs and 54 stores were penned. .Prices remained good for suckers and stores, but fat pigs were in over supply, and prices declined about os per head. Suckers 14s Bd to 18s, slips 20s to 24s 6d, stores 27s Gd to 43s 6d. porkers 45 S to 525/ light bacoTiers 53s to 58s. heavy Daconers 60s to 70s, choppers to 80s.
