Details have been received of a proposal, which is stated to bo nearing finality, to start a new line of steamships between tho Pacific Coast and Australia, Tho promoters, tho Merchants' Trust and Trading Company of Vancouver, aro reported to be backed by several prominent English capitalists, and have a subscribed capital of a million dollars. The intention is to run a monthly or bi-monthly line of 13-knot vessels, with extensive insulated space, and ono class of passenger accommodation, direct to Melbourne, with the option of calling at any other porta iv Australasia. .
