CORRESPONDENCE.

. 1 - POLICE AT LYTTELTON. TO THE EDITOR OF "THE PRESS." Sir, —As the regular police who were drawn from the country and other districts have now left for their homes, we desire to express a few words of appreciation of their behaviour and services during the recent industrial troubles. With tho withdrawal from the Port of the special police some weeks ago, the work of guarding the waterfront and keeping law and order, fell upon these men, and the LytteJton force under Senior-Sergeant Ryan, and it speaks volumes for their tact and I control that at no time wlule they were in charge was there any trouble between the original members of the present union and the ex-strikers.—Yours, etc., for the Te Anau men, : - ' GUY RONALDS, WM HEASLEY. J. G. TUXFORD.
