The market is very quiet, and sellers are holding for late rates. Five thousand toils of an Australian steamer loading sold at 3os 9d. SYDNEY WOOL SALES. (Received January 2Sth, 12.50 a.m.) SYDNEY, January 27. The wool sales were resumwl today. Competition was strong and keen, particularly in the Yorkshire section. The irregularity of iast week largely disappeared, and prices were 2J to 5 per cent, above those of the previous sales. Greasy sold up to laid. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., advise having received the following cablegram from London giving the under-noted market information :—London Wool Sales: 123,000 bales have been sold, 55,000 taken for the Continent, 5000 lor America, 0000 bales he' J over. As compared with last sales closing rates, prices are about 5 to 7J per cent, higher for medium greasy crossbred and fine greasy crossbred, about par to 5 per cent.- lower for crossbred slipe. Average London value for tho following descriptions New Zealand greasy wool are: —Good merino 14d, medium merino 113 d. inferior merino 9Jd. fine crossbred 12Jd, coarse 40's IOJd, and coarse 36's 10£ d.
