TERRITORIAL NOTES.

ANNUAL TRAINING CAMPS. In connexion with the annual district camps this year, it has been decided that tho Nelson and Marlborough Territorials, as comprised in Area Group 10, will go into camp at Tapawera, instead of coming to Kowai to join with the remainder of the troops in the Canterbury Military District. The companies, which will camp at Tapawera are the 10th Nelson Mounted Rifles, H Battery Field Artillery, 12th (Nelson) Regiment of Infantry, and B Section No. 3 Field Ambulance. Those troops who will do thirteen days' training will go into camp probably from April 25th to May 7th, while those who are" to have nine'days , training will be in camp from April 29th to May 7th. The inspection by . General Sir lan Hamilton. Inspector-General of the Oversea Forces,-will be made on Monday, May 4th, following on that at Kowai on May 2nd. Tapawera, where the Nelsoncamp is to be held, is on the railway line from Nelson to Glenhopo. at the point where the line runs into the Motueka Valley. The site of the camp is on the property of Mr George McMabon, a well-known farmer in the district, who has on many occasions shown his interest in volunteering, and more recently in tho Territorial Defence scheme, by lending his property for camp purposes .' Ist (CANTERBURY) REGIMENT CAMP. Tho Ist (Canterbury) Regiment will hold a night and mornine camp at Redcliffs from February 13th to 21st inclusive. The camp, which will bo under the command of Major Murphy, O.C. Ist Regiment, will be devoted to musketry instruction and practice. Work will be started early in the morning, and after breakfast the men will leave for their daily occupations in the city, returning to camp in the evening, when work will bo carried on while daylight lasts. RIFLE MEETINGS. The annual Group Rifle Meetings, open to Territorials under twenty-one years of age on March 31st, 1911, and General Training Section Senior Cadets within tho groups, will be held early in February. That of Area Group No. 9 will be held at Redcliffs on February 7th, and there will be a special match for voluntary members of Rifle Clubs. Tho Meeting of Area Group No. 11 will be held at Kaiapoi on February 7th. and matches for voluntary members of i Riflo Clubs will bo held on February 14th. Liberal prize money is being offered for the various matches, and entries will close on Saturday, 31st inst.
