A. plains, headmaster of the Greymouth public school, who has been on a holiday trip to the North Island, left yesterday morning for the West Coast. The death is announced of Mr Alfred H. Meikleham, who has been in tho eervico of tho Press Company, Ltd., for upwards of twenty-four years, has, owing to failing health, tendered his resignation. During his lengthy connexion with the company Captain Meikleham has been brought in closo contact with business people, not only in Christchurch, but in all parts of tho Dominion, and on all hands his sterling qualities as a capablo and tactful business man are recognised and appreciated. Mr Malcolm Fraser, Government •Statistician, has been re-nominated for a position on tho Public Service Superannuation' Board as a representative of tho Departments other than Railways and Post and Telegraph.
