SUMNER GALA.
A meeting of the executive of the Snmner Gala was held on Monday night. Mr G. Brewer presided, and there was a large attendance. The secretai-y reported that everything was well in hand for tho function, and that a record number of entries had been received. The sum of £4<i 3s had been received in donations, but that amount only represented half of the donors. The following officials were appointed for the respective events —Rowing starter, H. Kerry; judges, Messrs R. E. Nightingale, ft. J. Hobbs, and F. l>. Kesteven; umpire, W. I>e Thier. Sailing and Motor Boats: Messrs Beanland, Moon, Marquet, and MeColl. athletics: Messrs Waldron (starter), McCully, Raphael and Harley. Motor Rides: Messrs Heslop, Lang, W. Lawson, and J. Williamson. It was decided to officially notify the . public that the committee would not be responsible for any accidents caused by the public viewing the fireworks display from the Cave Rock. The secretary and treasurer were authorised to procure the necessary trophies. It was arranged for the torchlight procession to leave the Fire Brigade Station at 8.30 p.m.. and the secretary was requested to arrange with Professor Biekerton for a. definite time for starting and finishing the fireworks display, so that satisfactory arrangements could bo made with the Tramway Board for conveying the visitors back to town.
