4 (SVrXtAI. TO ''THK PRESS.") WELLINGTON. January 27. A curious case was before the Polico Court to-dny. A man who arrived at Auckland by the Kar'amca was lound u> be mentally, deficient, and ordered to be placed' on the Turakina and returned to London. On the vessel's arrival in Wellington he. left tho steamer ami refused to rejoih hor. He was arrested yesterday, and when" before the Court this morning ho vehemently protested against his treatment. Hβ did not, he protested, want to go to London, a.s ho came from Montreal, and ho claimed enquiry into the question of his sanity. The Magistrate decided that he remain in gaol until the sailing of a steamer for Canada next week, under the observation of the gaol doctor. Then if the report is against him he will be deported. The lindesired visitor to these shores seemed quito satisfied with this arrangement.
