"Webb (Christchurch) has left to join the Maloja, and will be homo at tho end of January. l*o ie well pleased with tho result of his investigations into the manufacture of paper from wood pulp. General Sir lan Hamilton, G.C.8., D.5.0., Brigadier-General G. F. Ellison, C.8., and Major Ashmoro, M.V.0., will join thes.s. Otway at Gibraltar on their way to Australia and Now Zealand, on an official inspection of tho Defence Forces. Mr Joseph John Page, son of the lato Mr J. F. Page, of Tiniaru, who is taking a three-year course in electrical engineering at Faraday House, has just completed his 6econd year, and has carried off the gold medal —which is the premier honour for students of his year. Mr S. Clarke Johnson, the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company's inspector in the Dominion, is now" in England, and tho directors of the company are taking advantage of his presence to discuss thoroughly with him in detail matters connected with the Now Zealand business. The Bey. J. do B. Galwer (Christchurch) will probably remain a year in England, taking temporary duty occasionally. "While travelling in America he was much interested in studying Church conditions and methods, and he hopes to devote some time- to similar observations here, especially regarding Sunday-schools. Mrs Gahvey is with her husband. Intimation has come to London from Edinburgh University that Leslie t'. E. Jeffcoat (Dunedin), Eric L. Mackenzie, and David J. Max have passed in forensic medicine of the final professional examination. H. P. "W. "White (Blenheim) Eric L. Mackenzie, and David J. Max have passed in public health of the final professional examination. James Whitson, Bruce Kemp, and Edward Aitken Seager have ..passed in the final examination for degrees in medicine and surgery (M.8., Ch.B.). Campion (Wellington). j The late Viscount Charlemont, father of Lady Ranfurly, who died on July 4th, left unsettled personal estate in tho United Kingdom valued at £4976. The testator directed that his body should be buried in Coney Island, Lough Neagh, and that a sum of £36 per annum should be provided for the payment of a keeper to reside on Coney Island for maintaining and keeping the old tower walks and "my last resting place" in good order, and that neither tho island nor the house should he let to any person or advertised to let.
