MISTRESS AND MAID.
» (press association tklbgeam.) WANGAXUI, January 27. A rather unusual case occupied the attention of the S.M. this morning. When visiting England at the end of last year, Mrs E. Stone engaged two sisters as domestic servants, and paid a portion of their passage money and other expenses, on tneir arrival at Wellington at tho beginning of this year, amounting to £8 16s 6d. On arriving at Wanganui, defendant, Edith Kerne, stayed with plaintiff for about one week, leaving without notice at midnight. Plaintiff stated that an agreement was entered into oetween the parties that defendant should remain in plaintiff's service for two years, and claimed refund of expenses. Itefendant denied signing tho agreement, and explained her conduct in leaving by saying that she could not stand it any longer. She- assorted that she was not well treated. Mr "Kerr, S.M., gave judgment for plaintiff for £5 17s 2d. with £1 Gscosts.
