GERALDINE.
The annual meeting of tsubscribers to the Geraldine Literary Institute was held on Monday, tho Rev. A. B. Todd presiding. Tho report and balancesheet showed that the past year had b/-©n extremely satisfactory* The number of subscribers increased from 76 to 90, and the income, including the proceeds of the recent garden fete (£59 10s 7d) amounted to £150 4s od. The expenditure for the year was £80 6- lOd. leaving a balance to credit of £69 17s 7d.. On tbe motion of the chairman, seconded by Mr T. Hughes, the report and balance-sheet were adopted. The election of officers resulted as follows: —Patron, Mr W. Nosworthy, M.P.; president, Rev. A. B. Todd; vice-president. Dr. Hislop; secretary, Mr A. R. Readdie; treasurer. Mr T. Hughes: committee, Colonel Moore. Rev. Canon Hamilton, Dr. Mill. Messrs T. Sherratt, A. McLean, "VV. Thomas and Dr. McGregor. It was decided that tho committeo provide new shelving with glass doors for the protection of books, and that the funds derived' from the garden fete be devoted to the purpose, the balance to be disposed of at the discretion of the committee. The librarian was instructed to supply tho committee with the mmc*- of pprson-. who are in the habitof -lelninp- thomselves to hooks' at unauthorised hours. It was unanimously acr-e-vl to increase tlie librarian's salon,- from £26 to £30.
