Tho athletic carnival was concluded to-day in perfect weather, but beforo a moderate attendance. A thunderstorm overnight left the track heavy, but it improved later, and a fine day's sport ensued. Tho spectators wero "unusually enthusiastic. Parker gave a wonderful performance in winning the 100, 220, and 440 yards. Several other events provided great finishes. Parker drew the insido running in both of to-day's events. Ho regards as his finest achievement his victory in the 440 yards. He received an ovation. Keddell lost tho titles to tho 120 and 4*o yards hurdles to a South Australian. Dormer ran much below form. Pender, tho South Australian choice in tho 120 yds hvtrdles, was unable to start, owing to an injury, but Wallman, the second string, effected a surprise by winning and breaking Keddell's record of Saturday. Tho mile was a brilliant neck-to-neck struggle between Power and Thorpewhich became thrilling up tho straight, and filled tho crowd with enthusiasm. The American broke Slirubb's record of 1905 by several yards. The three-mile walk was a great battlo from start to finish between Packard and Murray. Cashman walked indiffcrontlv. Tho 440 yds hurdles was a rattling performance. Watson and Keddell cleared the last hurdle together. Watson, in < a slashing finish, tore a muscle in his foot, which will incapacitate him for some weeks.
