MURDER OF REEKS.
ANOTHER CLUE. (By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright.) LONDON, January 24. The Wolvcrhampton police are investigating a story that two men stopped at a public house near the sceno of the n.urder at six. o'clock on Tuesday raormtg. They made only a brief stay and ordered drinks, which they left unconsumed. (Received January 2Gth, 10.20 p.m.) LONDON, January 26. In connexion with the murder of Reeks, three live cartridges, different to those already found, have been found in the Wolverhampton shaft. A Christchurch resident who knows Mr Waiter Reeks, the well-known Sydney marine architect, and his son Kent, says that the latter was about thirty years of age. and very keen on engineering, which was his profession. It was to make further study and pass further examinations that ho was in England. Mr Walter Reeks designed many fast steamers, and the "Greyhound of Port Jackson," the Manly, a. double-ended ferry boat of what was then a new design, was dubbed at Erst "Reeks's Folly." Sho had narrow - beam and whaleback ends, and while it was admitted that she was faster tlian anything of the kind in Sydney Harbour, it was alleged that she would turn turtle in the very heavy seas that sho had to face crossing the wide harbour entrance. That was 15 years ago, and 6he hasn't turned turtle yet, but several others designed on similar principles have been put in commission. Our informant thinks Mr Reeks designod some of the Commonwealth's new warships building in Australia.
