OUTBREAK OF CHOLERA ON A STEAMER.
(rHESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) WELLINGTON, January 26. - The steamer Achiibster, which on her arrival yesterday from Calcutta was ordered into quarantine owing to havinc had cholera cases on board, has a <t<;w mainly of Asiatics, with one or tr.o African negroes, and her officers ari' Europeans. The Aehlibster left Calcutta for "Wellington on December iHth, and on Christmas Day an Asiatic fireman contracted the disease in a severe form. Nothing could be done For him, and he died in a few hours. Tho body was buried at son. Subsequently a few mild cases developed among other members of the crew. l>;ifc stringent methods checked the epidemic. There have been no symptoms of the malady since I>ecember 27th. All on board the Achiibster now aro well.
