.—; 1> OPENING WOOLSTON COURTS. Tho Woolston Lawn Tennis Club was officially opened oa Saturday afternoon by its ..president (Mr G. F. Davis), in the presence 'of a large gathering of members of the ciub and friends. The two asphalt courte are situated on a fine section of land facing the river, and adjoining the Woolston Domain. JUNIOR INTER-CLUB COMPETITION. Tho Junior Inter-club A Grade competitions of the Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association were concluded on Saturday. St. A.bans, by defeating South Christchurch, wou the competition, having won all 'ho games in which they played. This club won the competition last year, when it also won every game played. The runncrs-up were Avoneide. Following are details of the matches :- opMvA % UNJTED Opawa defeated United, at United, by U games to 40. Following are details:— Singles—Taylor (U.) beat Barlow (0.), 9-1; Harman (O.) beat Gibson (U.), 9-7; Jameson (U) beat Garland <O.), 9-8; O'Connell (O.) bent Stevens (U.). 9-4. Doubles—Taylor and Gibson (L.) beat Har■m.in and Garland (O.), 9-5; Barlow ana O'Connell (0.) beat Jameson and Stevens (V.), 9-2. Totals—Opawii 44, United 40. CANTERBURY COLLEGE v. NEW BRIGHTON. Canterbury College defeated New Brighton on the College courts by 41 games to 34. Following ore details: — Singles—Parson&on (C.) beat Webb CS.), 9-6; Laurenson (C.) beat Butler (N.), 9-3; Bauchop iC) beat Bishop (N.), 9-2; Browning (N") boat Archey (C), 9-2 Doubles—Parsonson ar.d Laurenson (C.) beat Bishop and Webb (N.>, 9-5: Butler and Browning (N.) beat ~-auchop and Archey (C), 9-6 Totals— Canterbury College 44, New Brighs't 3 albans v. south christchurch.
