THE MYSTERIOUS FRIEND.
(Received January 25th, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, January 24. E. S. Hyno was the assumed name under which Reeks travelled. This has caused the police much difficulty. A medical examination proved conclusively that Reeks's wounds were not self-inflict e<3. Fifty soft-nose and fifty solid cartridges were purchased at Liverpool on Monday by two men, ono answering to the description of Reeks's mysterious friend. Tho other was possibly Reeks. The statement that Reeks travelled under .iri assu.iied name is erroneous, as Reeks was known to his fellow-passen-gers as Reeks, and his luggage was properly labelled.
