ATTACKED IN THE REICHSTAG
AN UPROAR. (By Cable.—Prow Association—Copyright \ BERLIN, January 23. There was an uproar in the Reichstag during the Zabern debate, when Dr. Frank, a Socialist member, attacked tho Crown Prince amidst loud protests from Conservative membere. The President of the Chamber twice ordered Dr. Frank to moderate his language. Dr. yon Bethmann-Hollwcg, the Chancellor, interposed in the Crown Prince's defence. Dr. Frank declared that hundreds of thousands of Germans were stirred when their future Kaiser displayed an intimate friendship with contemners of tho Constitution and inciters to a coup d'etat, and felfc that the nation must take its detinies into its own hands. A storm of applause from the Left, and protests from the Right, greeted this remark. Dr. Frank added that what the Crown Prince extolled as his supremo happiness as a soldier was to be leading his Hussars into battle. It would however, bo a supreme misfortune to tho bulk of the nation. Dr. voii Bethmann-Hoilweg, replying to criticisms, said a Cabinet order or 1820, empowering the military to intervene if the civil authorities were unable to maintain order, was still valid, though it had never been applied until tho Zaborn incident occurred. The Socialists' real object was to destroy the army. The Centre Party and the National Liberals supported the Chancellor. Herr Ledebour, iv a fiery speech, said the Crown Prince's farewell to the Dantzig Hussars was reminiscent of a girls' school. The Crown Prince should stick to his trade of making cuff buttons, which ho had learned. Herr Delbruck protested against the introduction of the Crown Prince's name. His farewell to the Hussars showed him to be imbued with the right army spirit.
