EVENING SITTING.
The Council resumed at 7.30 p.m. HOSPITALS BILL. The Council went into committee on the Hospitals and Charitable Institutions Act Amendment Bill. To section 17, which deals with regulations for the detention of persons suifering from infectious or contagious difeases, the Hon. F. H. l>. BELL moved an amendment to the effect that any person against whom an order has been made might appeal to a magistrate, whose order should bo final. The amendment was carried. COUNTIES BILL.
The Counties Amendment Bill was put through committee. During the discussion Mr BELL announced that the Government had tho strongest possible objection to the creation of any new counties, but he added that it was not proposed to abolish any of the existing local authorities. The Bill was put through, ite final stages. FINAL STAGES. Tho Education Reserves Act Amendment Bill, Rating Act Amendment B 11, Divorce and Matrimonial Causes Act Amendment Bill, and Education Act Amendment Bill were read a third time and passed. CANTERBURY COLLEGE BILL. The Canterbury College Act Amendment Bill was, on the motion of tho Hon. F. H. j>. BELL, discharged from tie Order Paper. The Council rose at 9.40 p.m.
